అమాంత మాసం అమావాస్యతో ముగుస్తుంది; పూర్ణిమాంత మాసం పౌర్ణమితో ముగుస్తుంది. తిథి ఎప్పుడు మొదలై ఎప్పుడు ముగుస్తుందనే విషయంలో రెండు సంప్రదాయాలూ పూర్తిగా ఏకీభవిస్తాయి — ఖగోళ గణితం ఒక్కటే. తేడా మాసం హద్దు ఎక్కడ గీస్తారనే దానిలోనే; అందుకే కృష్ణ పక్ష దినం ఉత్తరాదిన తరువాతి మాసం పేరును, దక్షిణాదిన ప్రస్తుత మాసం పేరును మోస్తుంది.An amanta month ends at the new moon; a purnimanta month ends at the full moon. Both traditions agree exactly on when the tithi begins and ends — the astronomy is the same. What differs is only where the month boundary is drawn, so a Krishna-paksha day carries the next month’s name in the North and the current month’s name in the South.
శుక్ల పక్ష దినాలు రెండు పద్ధతుల్లోనూ ఒకేలా ఉంటాయి. అందుకే దైనందిన పేజీలోని “ఇతర ప్రాంతాలలో” కార్డు కొన్ని రోజులు కనబడి, కొన్ని రోజులు కనబడదు: నిజంగా తేడా ఉన్నప్పుడే చూపుతాం, లేనప్పుడు చూపము.Every Shukla-paksha day matches in both systems. That is why the “in other regions” card on the daily page appears on some days and not others: it is shown when something genuinely differs, and absent when nothing does.
